If you’re a KISS family, take note: This installment of the PodKISSt is NOT for the innocent!
Before the action figures and the comics and the movies and the lunch boxes, KISS were trying out a very different aesthetic; they were dark, dirty, and dangerous! Not yet a full-fledged pop culture phenomenon, KISS had the flexibility to play with constructs such as gender, sexuality, and power in ways that would have been incongruous with their superhero image a few years later. No greater example exists than the photographs they took with tonight’s guest. If the back cover of “Hotter Than Hell” was a question mark, these pictures were an exclamation point! Whips, chains, blood, and bondage… Gene, Paul, Ace, and Peter… and Megan McCracken!
We’re pleased to bring you this exclusive PodKISSt interview with a woman who witnessed KISS in their infancy, was behind-the-scenes during their early development, became a nubile subject for their lurid delights… and lived to tell the tale!
And if that’s not enough excitement, PodKISSt correspondent Mikeman gets the inside scoop from Keith (KISSonline) Leroux on what the KISS Army can expect when they set sail on the KISS cruise with the Hottest Band in the Land!
Big thanks to Megan McCracken for sharing her stories for the PodKISSt. Having made her escape from KISS kaptivity, Megan is now a purveyor of inspiration and fitness! Check out her website:

Big thanks to Redfalcon (KISSfansite), Joe Casey (author/co-creator of “Ben 10”), and Julian Gill (KISSfaq) for making it a great discussion! Have fun, KISS Army!

When you think of KISS, naturally the first thing that comes to mind is a big oak table in a dimly-lit room, right? Isn’t it? OK, not so much. But for many members of the KISS Army, the subdued imagery of 1981 represents a departure from the classic KISS recipe in which there are as many treasures as there are missteps. For three decades, “Music From the Elder” has generated lively debate within the fan base, so it’s no surprise that it yielded hours of discussion here at PodKISSt. In this 2-part installment we’re joined once again by writer Joe Casey (Dark Horse’s KISS comics, Ben 10, Generator Rex) and KISStorian Julian Gill (author of many KISS books and host of KISSfaq) for an in-depth look at this intriguing record. So take the oath and set out an odyssey back to 1981 with PodKISSt… the KISS fanzine for your ears!

But how about an exclusive interview with Carrie Stevens (superstar Playboy model, actress, and erstwhile paramour of the late great Eric Carr)? Or maybe a backstage chat with rock group The Envy (openers for KISS on the 2010 Hottest Show on Earth tour)? Or a toddler’s take on Paul’s past proliferation of profanity? Yup… we’ve got all this and more in this installment. Big thanks to Heather for the great Envy interview! We’re just a few months into 2011 and there’s lots more in store. We here at PodKISSt wanted to kick off 2011 with a bang, and what could be more thunderous than the drums of the late great Eric Carr? We knew it would be impossible to cram into one show all of the love and excitement we feel about the Fox, so rest assured we plan to do plenty more in the future to celebrate his legacy. On this edition of PodKISSt we’re bringing you TWO fantastic interviews. First, we’re joined by Greg Prato, author of the hot new Eric Carr biography. It’s an honor to share with you, our PodKISSt listeners, an interview with a hero! Heroes are people who face adversity and come out stronger than before, and Peter Criss embodies that definition. We’re pleased to bring you an exclusive PodKISSt interview with this founding KISS member and true survivor, who tells us about his very personal experiences with breast cancer. On October 17, 2010, Peter will be participating in a walk at Point Pleasant Beach in New Jersey to benefit the American Cancer Society. PodKISSt has pledged our financial support, AND YOU SHOULD TOO!!! Visit Peter’s site (petercriss.net) for more information.
